Margaret of Austria (1480–1530) was one of the most influential women of the Habsburg dynasty. The daughter of Emperor Maximilian I and Mary of Burgundy, she became Governor of the Habsburg Netherlands and was an important political figure, diplomat and patron of the arts.
Her court at Mechelen became an important centre of Renaissance culture and politics, and she played a major role in the upbringing of the future Emperor Charles V.
