Henry of Blois (c. 1096–1171) was Bishop of Winchester, Abbot of Glastonbury and one of the most powerful churchmen in 12th-century England.
He was also the younger brother of King Stephen, placing him at the centre of the struggle between Stephen and Empress Matilda during The Anarchy. Henry played an important and sometimes shifting political role during the conflict, making him a fascinating figure from one of medieval England's most turbulent periods.
Beyond politics, Henry was an influential church patron closely associated with Winchester and Glastonbury.
A distinctive collectible for fans of The Anarchy, Empress Matilda, King Stephen, medieval England, Winchester, medieval Christianity and Plantagenet-era history.
