Godfrey of Bouillon (c. 1060–1100) was a prominent Frankish nobleman and one of the principal leaders of the First Crusade.
After the capture of Jerusalem in 1099, Godfrey became the first ruler of the newly established Kingdom of Jerusalem. Rather than using the title of king, he is traditionally associated with the title Advocate of the Holy Sepulchre.
His reputation as a warrior and crusader later grew into legend, and medieval writers celebrated him as an ideal Christian knight.
A beautiful centrepiece for collectors interested in medieval knights, the Crusades, the Kingdom of Jerusalem, European history and historical warriors.
