Erik the Red (c. 950–c. 1003) was a famous Norse explorer remembered primarily for establishing the first lasting Norse settlement in Greenland.

Born in Norway and later living in Iceland, Erik sailed west after being exiled. He explored Greenland and later returned to Iceland to encourage settlers to accompany him to the new territory. His expeditions helped establish Norse communities in Greenland that would survive for centuries.

Erik was also the father of the celebrated explorer Leif Erikson, who is traditionally associated with the Norse voyages to North America around the year 1000.

A striking collector's piece for enthusiasts of Viking history, Norse explorers, medieval warriors, Scandinavian history and hand-painted historical figurines.
