Celebrate one of medieval Spain’s greatest legendary warriors with this stunning El Cid collectible statue, inspired by the noble knight whose battlefield brilliance, loyalty, and military genius made him an immortal hero of Spanish history.
El Cid (c.1043–1099), born Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, was a Castilian nobleman, military commander, and one of the most famous heroes of the Spanish Middle Ages.
The title “El Cid” comes from the Arabic al-Sayyid, meaning “The Lord,” a name given to him by both Christian and Muslim allies who respected his military skill and leadership.
El Cid became famous during the Reconquista, the long struggle between Christian kingdoms and Muslim states for control of the Iberian Peninsula. He served under Sancho II of Castile and later Alfonso VI of León and Castile.
Known for his battlefield intelligence and cavalry tactics, El Cid fought numerous campaigns against both Muslim and Christian rivals. His most famous achievement came when he conquered Valencia in 1094, ruling the city independently for several years.
Legend says that after his death in 1099, his body was strapped onto his horse so his army could ride into battle one final time — terrifying enemies and inspiring his soldiers to victory.
This statue captures El Cid as the ultimate medieval warrior commander: mounted on horseback, sword raised high, wearing battle-worn chainmail and a flowing war cloak, symbolizing courage, leadership, and the spirit of the Reconquista.
A must-have display piece for collectors of medieval history, Spanish history, legendary warriors, and knightly figures.
